GREENVILLE, SC -- Halloween is next month but kids in a South Carolina neighborhood are already being haunted. For the past two weeks, Greenville police have been trying to solve several reports of creepy clowns popping up in backyards and luring children into the woods.

"I thought my child was seeing things," one parent explained.  "Then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say 'did you see the clown in the woods?'"

So far cops haven't been able to get to the bottom of it. But that because this all might be some huge hoax.

According to The Guardian, the creepy clowns may be connected to a marketing stunt promoting Rob Zombie's new movie 31. It's about a gang of clowns that terrorizes a group of people.

As of now, police say they don't know if the clowns popping up in their town have any connection to the film. If these rumors are true, the actors aren't the only clowns cast in this horror story.
