NORTH TEXAS -- The weekend is a time when most of us sit back and relax, sometimes aided by a few healthy swigs of an adult beverage. In steps Grapefest; the annual wine tasting festival that takes place in Grapevine. This year marks the 30 year anniversary of the event and it's not just wine from the Lone Star State.

Leigh Lyons, Director of Communications for the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau, explained what to expect this weekend, "We've brought in wines from the central coast of California and the Barossa Valley of Australia so this is an opportunity to get to meet those winemakers and winery representatives... plus there are all kinds of family activities all weekend long."

We caught up with, Stuart Bourne, one of the Australian winemakers to get his thoughts on wine tasting and Texans, "You just want to roll a little bit around in your mouth get a full feel of the texture, the flavors. Then let it sit on your tongue and slide down... To me Texans are just misplaced Australians with funny accents."

If a cold brew is more of your thing then there's another event to better suit your tastes. Addison’s annual Oktoberfest is already in full swing featuring food, games, music and of course beer.

Mary Rosenbleeth, director of communications for Addison filled us in on what makes this Oktoberfest different from the rest, "We have authentic German beer, the same kind of beer that you'll find at the Munich festival, we've got Paulaner...At the Munich festival, there's only a handful of breweries that are allowed to serve and Paulaner's one of them."

So whether you want to taste grapes or suds be sure to have a safe time this weekend; both festivals run through Sunday.
