The BET Awards promised, and delivered, a huge tribute to Prince.

Expectations were high for the show’s tribute to Prince after the BET Awards twitter account declared “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you” following Madonna’s Prince tribute at the Billboard Music Awards in May. The tweet was deleted, but the promise was delivered on.

Jennifer Hudson belted out the lyrics while Root’s guitarist “Captain” Kirk Douglas handled the guitar solo on “Purple Rain.”

“It’s been 7 hours and 66 days since you took your music away.”

Maxwell updated the lyrics to “Nothing Compares 2 U” referencing the length of time since Prince’s passing.

But BET saved the biggest tribute for last as Sheila E brought down the house with a medley of Prince-penned songs.

Twitter gave her a standing ovation!
