KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A baby girl was rushed to the hospital Thursday afternoon after Kansas City police say the child and a young woman rolled out of a speeding getaway car.

Three people were shoplifting from a Target store when they tried to make a run for it with the stolen merchandise, according to police. A 4-month-old baby girl, who was not in a car seat, and a woman both tumbled out of the rental car through an open backdoor, according to WDAF.

Witnesses told police the male driver then sped off at a high rate of speed and tried to get away with the other female suspect, but police rushed in and stopped the white, four-door Ford Fusion and arrested the occupants.

Paramedics took the baby to the hospital for treatment. She’s expected to be okay.

All three suspects were hauled off  to jail.
