WAXAHACHIE, TX - It was a dark and stormy night Sunday and we aren't talking about ghost stories here, folks.

“We’ve taken minor flooding in our police department. We’ve had pipes burst before but never from the good lord`s way,” Officer Wess Winn with Waxahachie PD said.

Yeah, folks on College Street in Waxahachie had a flood of biblical proportions when water rose nearly a foot covering the sidewalk, and washed out many businesses along the way.

At WPD headquarters, they had an unexpected intruder damaging the carpet and base boards. “This is minor as opposed to some citizens around here and other places have had," Ofc. Winn explained.

Folks at the College Street Pub next door were left with the tab of cleaning up the mess left behind.

“The Street was completely flooded we couldn’t park out here, get down here. We’ve been here since 1:30 this morning just mopping up and cleaning up,” owner Tammy Strickland said.

Stewart Hamilton owns Ellis Associates Surveyors and he found out about the flood early in the morning, after watching the news.

“I can`t tell you what I said because you`ll have to bleep it," Hamilton said.

While these surveyors are drying out the ground floor most of the damage was in the basement.

“Damage to files, thats $10,000 at least," Hamilton told NewsFix.

Well, it's all water under the bridge now and these folks aren’t letting this storm dampen their spirits.

“We`re ready my cooks are in there cooking, and we`re cleaned up ready to go," Strickland said.
