IRVING -- A house fire in Irving forced a family out of their home just days before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Fire officials say the blaze started Tuesday night in the 2200 block of Woodoak Drive in south Irving. Six people were inside the home, along with 20 to 30 dogs and cats.

At least two of the residents had to be taken to the hospital for unknown injuries.

Firefighters were able to rescue several of the animals, but they say at least four of them did not make it out alive.

That number could go up, though, as crews sift through the damaged home.
