Perhaps nothing says Independence Day in Dallas more so than the Fair Park Fourth. Food, fun and fireworks: the holy trinity of a holiday tradition.

The park grounds opened at noon on Friday for folks who were ready to brave the heat and celebrate America’s birthday.

Live bands provided music; and the Midway provided thrills. But c’mon, the real draw is the sparkling show.

Crowds are expected to cram the Cotton Bowl for the fireworks display. The best part of this big bash? It’s free.

Talk about a ‘free’dom fest!
