Dallas Police budget remains mostly intact after City Council vote

DALLAS, Texas (KDAF) — On Wednesday the Dallas City Council voted to approve a new budget that included an increase for the Dallas police department, despite calls from activists to defund the department.

However, $7 million dollars was cut from the budget that was allocated for police overtime pay. These funds will reportedly be used for hiring civilian employees and improving street lighting.
