We’re so excited that “Teen Wolf” alum Tyler Hoechlin will be playing Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) super famous cousin, Clark Kent (a.k.a Superman) on the upcoming season of “Supergirl.” It’s even more awesome that his cameo will take place on “Supergirl’s” new home, The CW.
So far, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has said Superman will only appear in the first two episodes of “Supergirl’s” new season, but the opportunity for more Man of Steel is always possible.
We’re particularly interested to see if Hoechlin might return to help his on-screen cousin in December, when The CW typically has its epic DC series crossover event with “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” If so, fans might be treated to more than one crossover reunion when these worlds collide.
“Arrow” fans may remember that this is not the first time The CW has snagged a “Teen Wolf” actor for one of their super series. Colton Haynes, who plays Oliver’s currently-absent sidekick Roy Harper, was part of the original “Teen Wolf” cast too, before moving on from the show.
Haynes has departed “Arrow” since then, only appearing to reprise his role as Roy once in Season 4. However, the actor has already confirmed he’ll be back for a number of episodes in Season 5, which presents an interesting possibility.
Could Superman and Arsenal manage to meet up in this superhero saga? And if so, will “Teen Wolf” fans get a nod to their shared history?
Hoechlin and Haynes have not worked together since their days on “Teen Wolf,” but it would be a nice treat to see them together again as their alter-egos, even if we’ll always fondly remember them as Derek Hale and Jackson Whittemore.
The stars really do have to align in an unlikely fashion for this “Teen Wolf” dream to come true, but we’ll be holding out hope until we can’t hold out any longer.
“Supergirl” returns on The CW in the fall of 2016.
