Keiynan Lonsdale on 'The Flash'

This is normally the sort of thing The CW would hold onto until San Diego Comic-Con, but the first look at Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) as Kid Flash in Season 3 of The Flash is here.

The costume shows Wally as the speedster that comics always promised us he would become in a costume that is taken right out of the pages of the DC universe. Mixing red and yellow, Lonsdale’s costume is truly an incredible sight for anyone who grew up reading The Flash.

The costume is closer to the traditional look of the Kid Flash costume — and the one Wally West II will be using in DC’s “Rebirth” series — rather than the one seen in the New 52 stories.

Kid Flash

Wally will first appears as Kid Flash in the Season 3 premiere of The FlashFlashpoint — which should clue you into the idea that Barry going back in time to save his mom’s life certainly had a major impact. It will be different from what comic fans will remember from the Flashpoint miniseries and animated movie, though.

“We’re definitely doing this ‘FP’ thing our own way,” star Grant Gustin previously revealed. “I’ve read Flashpoint, I’ve seen the amazing animated film. This will be its own thing.”

It turns out The Flash’s “own thing” is an awesome-looking Kid Flash whose story we can’t wait to see. Has Wally been the one taking care of Star City? Does Barry even have his powers anymore? Has Wally been in Iris (Candice Patton) and Joe’s (Jesse L. Martin) lives all along in this altered timeline?

So many questions will need to be answered but based on this photo, The Flash Season 2 is going to get amazing. Now it’s time to give Jesse (Violett Beane) some speed.

The Flash returns Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. on CW33.
