Ricky Whittle

File this under — the million and one ways your mom can embarrass you on social media. Ricky Whittle, best known for playing Lincoln on The CW’s hit show “The 100,” has apparently decided to leave the show because of bullies, or so says his mother.

Who exactly these bullies are is a mystery, as Whittle’s mother didn’t go into much detail. Her Twitter rant does appear to be criticizing executive producer Jason Rothenberg though.

“Finally got full story from my son,@JRothenbergTV should be ashamed! Disgusting behaviour from grown man & one in ‘power to an honest person,” says Whittle. “Even as a boy Rick always stood up for himself & others against bullies, I’m proud he continued this trend & glad karma rewarded him. I hope he shares the sad truth so u all understand why he had to walk away. Nobody should have to deal with bullies alone, talk to someone.”

Whether these “bullies” are part of the show or just a product of the social media frenzy surrounding the show, Whittle’s mother seems to be all too glad her son has walked away.

Back in January, Starz announced that Ricky Whittle would be taking on a major role in their new show “American Gods,” leaving fans to wonder if they would be saying goodbye to Lincoln during this season of “The 100” or if he would just juggle shows. After all, Alycia Debnam-Carey has been able to handle both “The 100” and “Fear the Walking Dead” this year.

Whittle’s mother might have just given the game away though, especially if it’s true that there is no love lost between the actor and his boss. Whittle has yet to comment on his mother’s tweets.
