BROWARD COUNTY, FL -- Police are still looking for answers after rapper XXXTentacion was shot and killed on Monday in Broward County, Florida.
Authorities believe the 20-year-old music artist, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, was murdered in an apparent robbery as he was leaving a motorcycle dealership.
"He was approached by two armed suspects," said Keyla Concepcion of the Broward Sheriff's Office. "At least one of the suspects fired the weapon in what appears, at this point, to be an apparent robbery. The two suspects fled the scene in a dark colored SUV."
Those two suspects have not yet been found.
What many people are saying makes his death eerily ironic, is an undated Instagram live video where he recorded himself saying: "If I'm going to die or ever be sacrificed, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy."
Onfroy had been in the center of many controversies in the media where he has been accused of abuse several times.
And during one concert in San Diego he was even punched in face by another rapper while in the middle of a performance.
But despite his media persona, fans are devastated by the loss.
"Just the amount of diversity and you know, he had like country music songs. He had screamo, metal, rock songs. He had rap songs," fan, Wyatt Rubin, said. "So it just really sucks that he can't continue to live that out."
Other music artists have taken to social media to pay their respects.
Friends and family are planning to hold a vigil on Tuesday to remember the young rapper.
