KELLER - It was a typical lunch at Timberview Middle School for 5th grader Laura Gonzales and her cousin Aubrey.

That is until her lunch turned into a surprise of a lifetime.

Laura’s mom, Sgt. Erica Gonzalez, has been stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. She hasn’t seen her mom since June.

Laura had been staying with her aunt for several months when she mentioned an idea to her grandmother.  Erica Gonzalez says, “Laura was watching the welcome home videos and she mentioned to my mother, how great would it be if she was surprised by me and that’s what she wanted to do.”

Erica plans to be around for a while to have some Laura time at home before heading out to her security detail in the Air National Guard. She says hers daughters plan went off without a hitch.
