Once again the weekend is here, and this time, oh baby — it’s FINALLY cold outside.

It is finally, officially, without warning, winter in DFW.

So what will you do now that you have the excuse to pull out your warmest clothing? Will you snuggle in with a blanket and sweater? Or will you get out and about?

Well, if you do decide to brave the chill, here are five things to look forward to.

Friday: Holiday Rock

The Majestic Theatre will feature the 14th Annual Polyphonic Spree Holiday Extravaganza this weekend. This family-friendly event has a serious mix of fun covering all your holiday favorites. Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, stilt walking toy soldiers and nutcrackers, a magician, face painting, reindeer and more will perform.

Price: $40-$75 (4 and under free).

When: 7 pm Friday, Dec. 9.

Friday: Wizarding Winter

We all loved the “Harry Potter” series. Well, most of us did, and most die hard fans know exactly what the Yule Ball is. Who wouldn’t want to go to this famous “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” dance? This year, on December 9th, Barnes & Noble across the nation will host a real life Yule Ball including themed activities, crafts, poster giveaways, and hopefully a bunch of wizards and muggles partying the night away. Contact your local store to verify the event and that there is still space left for you and yours.

Price: $25 with a B&N membership.

When: 7 pm Friday, Dec. 9.

Friday & Saturday: Neighborhood Pajama Party

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is hosting winter pajama parties. There will be a morning party on Saturday and an evening party on both Friday and Saturday. Each admission comes with a viewing of “Polar Express,” hot chocolate, photos with a decked out, holiday Dynamo and winter-fueled activities. This is the perfect event for family fun or a day with the kiddos.

Sunday: Run to Keep Warm

Starting at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, the 46th BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and Behringer Relay is this Sunday. There’s still time to register for the relay if you want to get out and go for the imaginary gold in the hopefully sunny, possibly less miserable cold than we have had this past week. Even if you don’t run, getting out to support those brave souls who do can be an awesome way to spend your Sunday!
