DALLAS -- Ricki Beason knows what the people want.

"My first instinct was, 'Yeah, half naked men. Sure, that sounds good. Let's roll with it,'" Beason said, leaving through her Heartthrobs and Hound Dogs calendar.

Believe it or not, those half naked fellas are playing the bit parts in this calendar.

"I pair hunky guys with their shirts off with dogs," Beason laughed. "If I can get rescue dogs adopted, that's the main goal of it."

It's three years in, and Beason's main goal has spread from her mind to the pages of her calendar and into the hearts of the dudes with the dogs.

"That was a big point to me, being able to be a factor in helping dogs get rescued," said Mr. October Travis Hitt.

Beason pairs veterans and first responders from Dallas, Austin, and Houston with the available rescue dogs, usually picking dogs that have spent the longest time with the rescue groups. With pretty much all the people and pets being first time models, it's always a new adventure.

"Having to strip down was definitely awkward," laughed Mr. January Alan Shebaro.

"It was awkward," Mr. April, Dakota Miller, agreed. "I've never done anything like this in my life."

Of course, as long as Mom's happy, we should all be happy.

"My mom's really proud of me too!" Miller said.

The good news for the dogs: not only have most of them been adopted, they're getting paid.

"100% of the proceeds go back to the six rescues," Beason said. "It's divided evenly among the six rescues."

Those six rescue groups are:

And if the dogs are getting the help they need, it's all good to be half dressed.

"I knew I was going to get a lot of grief from my friends, but it was a good cause and definitely worth it," Shebaro said.
