GRAPEVINE -- You know the feeling. A few glasses of wine make for a happy night, but beware of the morning because that wine hangover is real, y'all!
For some, it comes just from drinking too much. For others, it's an actual condition.
"A half glass or a glass and I'd lose my voice, or I'd get a really bad headache, nasal congestion, or I'd just feel really crummy the next day," said PureWine founder and co-inventor of The Wand, David Meadows.
Meadows was forced to give up wine about 10 years ago, but he wasn't going to do it without a fight. He and his son Derek decided to hit the lab and try to find a way to beat the wine hangover.
Like all inventors have learned, it wasn't easy.
"We learned early on there's lots of ways of ruining wine," Meadows laughed.
He and his son even busted some myths along the way about where these wine side effects come from. It's not the alcohol, the tannins or just the sulfite preservatives. No, it's a mix of the sulfites and the histamines found in a glass of red or white.
After plenty of lab work, the eureka moment gave us The Wand.
"We just go, 'This is it,'" Meadows remembered.

Sound too good to be true? 30-year veteran of the wine business Randy Johnson was skeptical too, at least until he tried it.
"I can't tell a difference in the structure of the wine," Johnson, the owner of Colleyville's Bear Creek Spirits & Wine said. "I just know the next morning that I'm going to feel a lot better."
