COPPELL - Coppell High School students are troubled by a card sent to a Hispanic student that may have crossed the line.

The card posted on Facebook reads, “Thank you for all you and your family did to try and make Coppell a better community. Y’all were such a blessing when it came to building the new arena and turf room.” It goes on, “Farewell to you my ole friend from tech theatre. Come back soon.”

On the back, the card read, “Make America Great again!!! Adios!!! Donald will miss you too.”

Some students took it as hate speech, while one parent said her kids thought it was a joke gone bad.

“Naw I don’t think it was a joke, why would you do something like that? It could hurt someone's feelings," said one Coppell student.

Coppell ISD says any student involved with the card has been disciplined but would not say if that included suspension. They say a letter was sent to all parents conveying that any violation of their code of conduct would be dealt with.
