BURLESON -- It's been a tragic few days for the town of Burleson.

A two-year-old girl died Sunday afternoon after falling into a swimming pool at her home along Short Street.

At this point, it's not clear how the girl fell into the pool or how long she was underwater.

At least 96 children have drowned in Texas so far this year.

The State Department of Family and Protective Services says 30 of those deaths occurred in backyard pools.

A Burleson teenager, meanwhile, is still in critical condition following a bizarre accident Friday night.

Jonathan Lopez, a junior defensive linebacker, was celebrating his team's win at Buffalo Wild Wings when he went outside with friends.

Lopez sat on the tailgate of a truck, but fell when his friend tapped the gas with the truck in reverse.

Lopez's head took the brunt of the fall and he suffered bleeding in the brain.
