DALLAS -- Just because Rome wasn't built in a day doesn't mean nothing can be.

Case in point -- a North Dallas playground project. It was a collaboration between KaBOOM!, Target, and Behind Every Door.

"We've been working in this community for about seven and a half years, providing opportunities for kids and families to get the tools to get out of poverty," said Will Dowell with Behind Every Door.

"This is more than just a playground," said Derrick Dixon of KaBOOM! "It's a brain expander, a friendship maker, and a muscle builder."

And while it's the first one-day playground they've done in the DFW, KaBOOM! has plenty of experience.

"This is our 2,818th playground since our inception in 1986," Dixon told NewsFix.

Yeah, an army of about 200 volunteers built benches, mixed and poured concrete, assembled a play structure, moved a mountain of mulch and more, to transform the common space of an apartment complex into a full-fledged playground.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown was even on hand to cut the ribbon!

Now that it's complete, area kids have a whole new place to play, and it was all in a day's work.
