LOS ANGELES, CA – Looks like funnyman Jim Carrey’s caught up in a situation that’s no laughing matter.

The actor was sued Monday for the wrongful death of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. She died last September of a prescription drug overdose which was ruled a suicide. The lawsuit was filed by a man who was married to White at the time of her death.

The suit claims that Carrey obtained illegal drugs under a fake name then provided the drugs to White knowing that she suffered from depression. Carrey is also accused of attempting to cover-up his involvement in White`s death.

The lawsuit continues with an accusation that Carrey’s offer to pay for white`s funeral was only done as a cover so that he`d be seen as a “grieving good guy”. In fact, white`s husband says Carrey didn`t pay for any of the funeral expenses.

The amount of money being requested within the lawsuit is currently unknown. As of now, neither Carrey nor his rep has released a response.
