FORT WORTH -- One of the two Fort Worth police officers injured in a shooting late Friday is still in the hospital, but is said to be recovering.

Officer Xavier Serrano was shot several times in the upper torso, arms, and shoulder. He's in stable condition but will require surgery. Rookie officer Ray Azucena was released from the hospital on Saturday.

The two were shot while responding to a suicide call.

Police say 55-year-old Martin Fleece shot the officers when they tried to confront him.  They also believe Fleece shot and killed his father, who was found inside the house.

Fleece died in a shootout but at this point, it's not clear if he was killed by a police bullet or one of his own.

He has an extensive criminal history, including a past charge of manslaughter.
