CUPERTINO, CA -- If you're excited about Apple's new iPhone 7, and operating system - iOS 10 - you're certainly not alone! But there are a select few (actually probably more than a few) who aren't too excited.

And those are the people that have any one of the following:

  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 2
  • iPad 3rd Gen
  • iPad mini

Why? Because all of those devices will not be supported by iOS 10, meaning - in short - it's the end of the road for them. They won't be getting any more system updates, no more security patches, or app support.

According to, this could mean about 40% of all iPads currently out there will be nothing more than an expensive paperweight come September 13 when iOS 10 is officially launched.

Look on the bright side: At least you'd have a nice looking paper weight to make sure that receipt for the new iPhone doesn't get lost...
