MESQUITE — A teacher’s aide in Mesquite has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy.

Jessica Jewel Corin Benton, 26, was arrested Thursday after someone alerted police to a possible inappropriate relationship and reported Benton sexually assaulting a Mesquite boy last Friday at a private residence.

Officers say Benton later confessed, saying she had numerous encounters with the 11-year-old over the past few months.

Benton works at Mesquite ISD’s Tisinger Elementary, but police say the boy does not attend that school. She has been arrested for Aggravated Sexual Assault, a 1st degree felony.

Police say there are no indications any of the offenses happened on school property or that there are other victims involved.
