ARLINGTON - After deadline moves that netted the Rangers a couple of All-Stars plus a top flight addition to the bullpen, most Rangers fans can agree that Texas is now a better team. One subject Rangers fans can't agree on is the team's proposed new billion dollar stadium.

On one side, you have the crowd that can't wait to beat the heat in what would be a state of the art retractable-roofed air conditioned stadium.

On the other side, people are not only questioning the need for a new stadium but the expected $500 million the citizens of Arlington would have to pay to fund it.

Well, since the owners of the team are asking for financial help from Arlington, one Arlington resident saw fit for the people of Arlington to ask for some help as well.

Here's the official GoFundMe page simply titled “MLB Texas Rangers Roof":

MLB Texas Rangers Roof

It was started by a citizen of Arlington who says she's tired of paying additional sales taxes to fund stadiums. The goal is to raise the full $500 million portion that Arlington will owe for the new digs; so far the donations are off to a slow start.

On Tuesday, the new stadium moved closer to reality as the Arlington City Council gave unanimous preliminary approval for a special election on November 8. Back in May, the council unanimously approved a master agreement for the new 30-year lease.

So Arlington, good luck with the GoFundMe page, looks like you're going to need it.
