DALLAS -- It's hot. Like hot, hot! So naturally, a cool cone or cup of ice cream is necessary for survival. I had the pleasure of visiting Howdy Homemade Ice Cream for my latest Chew on This shoot. And they're offering up their frozen treats with a twist.

Besides being known for flavors like Hot Tamale, Cookie Monster, and their most popular -- Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip -- Howdy Homemade Ice Cream employs special needs workers. Owner Tom Landis believes not enough companies are staffing special needs workers, and hopes that his gesture will influence others to do the same.

From the concept, to the array of unique flavors (Avocado was my favorite) it's nice to know you can go somewhere to eat, beat the heat, and help a special group of people beat a stereotype.

Pretty sweet if you ask me!
