Two Dallas firefighters were hurt while battling a fire that destroyed two businesses just after midnight Tuesday.

Dallas Fire Rescue was called at 12:07 a.m. to a one-story commercial building with heavy smoke and fire in the attic at 800 S. Beacon St. at Lindsley. The building housed two businesses, Fide's Beauty Salon and Fruteria Cano.

Firefighters fought the one-alarm fire from the outside, calling in other engines and trucks to assist after the roof collapsed. It was put out after an hour and 40 minutes, but was expected to continue smoldering for several hours.

During the fire, one firefighter was treated at the scene for heat-related injuries.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
