DALLAS -- By now it's safe to say, Dallas is a great source for live, local music. With musical genres ranging from hip hop and country to blues and folk, the DFW is home to many amazing artists!
One of them being Kirk Thurmond of, you guessed it, Kirk Thurmond and The Millennials.
Born and raised in Dallas, music has flowed through his veins since he could remember.
"I don't think I’ve ever been at any point in life where music wasn't a natural expression, which means that I think I’ve always known I was good at it,” says Thurmond.
Once a solo artist, Thurmond had reached a point in his career where he felt dormant and knew he needed a push. That extra touch came in 2014 when he formed The Millennials.
"It’s something that I didn't know I was missing until I got them. I can write these tunes in my own space give it to them and they completely polish and legitimize the tune."
Thurmond is a singer and songwriter with one thing in mind; to create melodies of music with a soul and meaning.
"We try to keep it really person-centered we try to just send messages of self-awareness just things that really make you look on the inside."
The album "Break Free" and signing with a new record label DEFDISCO has been exactly what was needed for Kirk Thurmond and The Millennials. Currently, they are jamming out songs at January Sound Studio to put the finishing touches on a new album set to release on August 26th. One thing is for sure, the authenticity they exude is second to none.
