PADUCAH, Ky. — An irate moviegoer in Kentucky got so mad over a kid kicking the back of his seat, he ended up pulling a gun. Which stopped the kicking, ended a fight, and cleared the theater pretty quickly.
Police say a Saturday screening of Star Trek Beyond at a Cinemark theater in Paducah went way beyond the normal movie experience when an Illinois man got up from his seat and swore at a little boy behind him, asking if he was going to continue kicking his seat.
“The boy’s father interceded and a fight broke out between the two men, police said in a Facebook post. “As the father got the upper hand in the fight, witnesses said, the other man pulled a gun and said, ‘What the [expletive] are you going to do now?”
Police say others in the theater ran for the exits as soon as they saw the gun. Three moviegoers and theater employees escorted the man outside the theater and waited with him until police arrived.
Police say they will seek charges as they present evidence to the McCracken County Attorney’s office Monday.
Regardless of what happens in criminal court, the man is banned from Cinemark property.
After it was all over, the rest of the Star Trek audience was allowed back in, the movie was rewound, and they even got free tickets. (But yeah, they definitely earned them.)
