ARLINGTON — The Dallas Wings might be the newest pro sports team in town, but they’re not wasting any time taking a stand for their city. Sunday, the WNBA squad wore #DallasStrong t-shirts before their game against the Minnesota Lynx.
“The Dallas Wings stand united against the senseless violence that has occurred across the country, in our own community and overseas,” Plenette Pierson, the Wings team captain read from a statement during pre-game.
“Let’s never choose sides based on race,” she continued. “Instead let’s strive to spread love and not hate, remembering we all are members of the human race.”
The act of remembrance over a week after last week’s attack on Dallas Police Officers coincidentally comes on the same day as another fatal ambush on police forces, this time in Baton Rouge. Pierson perhaps summed up the situation we all find ourselves in perfectly:
“Tough times call for tough people, and that’s exactly who we are: Dallas Strong,” she said. “My teammates and I are encouraging everyone here and throughout the country to be the change we want to see.”
