SACRAMENTO, CA -- The pastor of Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento delivered a sermon Sunday morning praising the Orlando terrorist attack, just hours after the massacre occurred.
KTXL obtained YouTube video of Pastor Roger Jimenez delivering the shocking remarks.
"'Hey, are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?' Um, No, I think that's great," Jimenez said. "It is unnatural for a man to be attracted to another man." Jimenez added that "The tragedy is that more of them didn't die."
A post on the church's Facebook page directed people to the YouTube video, which has since been removed, according to YouTube, for violating the site's policy on hate speech.
KTXL spoke to local activist and Executive Director of Sacramento's LGBTQ Community Center, Donald Bentz, who said this church leader went way too far.
"We as the gay community support you should be able to worship as you see fit, but it's when you use the pulpit to incite violence or demean or discredit another class of people, just utter disgust."
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson condemned the pastor's remarks on Twitter writing, "the hateful comments made by a preacher in Sacramento do not reflect Christian values and have no place in our society. #standwithorlando"
