SWAT Kills Suspect Who Took Hostages Inside Amarillo Walmart

AMARILLO — A hostage situation is over in Amarillo after an allegedly armed suspect inside a Walmart store was shot by authorities, according to Sonja Gross, a spokeswoman for the City of Amarillo.

Police say the suspect took hostages, but they are all safe; the incident was described as a workplace violence event.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene amid reports of an armed person with hostages.

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office earlier had posted on its Facebook page that one person was armed inside the store and had taken at least one person hostage.
