“Parkour In The Park” Offers Free Weekly Lessons

FT. WORTH — Parkour! It’s one of the wildest rides you can go on, but you’re the driver and the vehicle!

“It’s the freedom of movement,” said Ronnie Cade. “I mean you can flip, you can jump, you can climb. There are so many options you can do, it’s unlimited.”

On Saturdays, the local Parkour group, “Somatic Movement”, gets together to hone in on their skills.

“It was just a whole bunch of us locally training together and we just decided one day that we wanted to become and influence in the community, we wanted to push parkour in a positive way,” said Cade. “That’s how Somatic Movement started.”

But it’s not just the pros. Anyone is welcome to these free Saturday stunt sessions, with lessons and advice from some of the best.

“Just show people what we’re doing and show that even though you’re not the most physically fit or the most active, you can still participate and still go out there and be active,” said D’Ondrai Jones, another member of “Somatic Movement”.

The free to the public classes are every Saturday at 11 and they alternate weekly between the Fort Worth Water Gardens and Reverchon Park in Dallas.

And there’s more to it all than just free running, climbing and flipping.

“It’s all about personal progression, taking things that you once thought you couldn’t do and being able to do it, and it teaches you a valuable lesson,” Jones said. “Life has a lot of obstacles but you can overcome them through time and through practice.”
