DALLAS — New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones was shot and killed in Dallas Friday night while breaking into someone’s home.

Dallas PD says he “kicked open the door” to an apartment in the 2500 block of Bennett Avenue just after 3 a.m. That’s when a man sleeping inside opened fire.

Dejean-Jones ran out and collapsed in the breezeway.

According to his agent, the 23-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Turns out, according to the complex’s manager, Bryce broke into the wrong apartment and paid for it with his life.
