DALLAS -- If recovery is a 12-step process, then it looks like Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk may be back at step one.
Questions were raised early Friday when Hawk, who’s battled depression, missed a scheduled appearance to speak about mental health. It was later revealed that Hawk is taking another leave of absence to focus on her health.
A statement released from her office says, in part:
"She is taking the necessary steps so that she can continue to serve the community. She is being proactive with her mental health plan and is determined to stay whole and healthy to insure that Dallas County is safe and thriving."
It’s been almost five months since Hawk won a court battle to stay in office after a former employee accused the DA of being mentally incompetent to perform the duties of the job.
Hawk’s first leave of absence totaled two months. As of now, there’s no timetable as to when she will return to office.
