FLOWER MOUND, Texas -- The newest member of the Flower Mound Fire Department is there to smell crime!  As if firefighters weren't impressive enough already.

Okay, so Ziva the Black Labrador won't fight fires, but she will help investigate them.  And that's enough to get her a badge from the fire chief.

"The badge is a symbol of public safety," said Fire Chief Eric Greaser. "It's a symbol of public trust."

So what's Flower Mound trusting this four-legged fireman with, exactly?

"She's an accelerant detection dog," said Jason Bolejack, FMFD investigator and Ziva's partner-in-crime-fighting. "She's gonna assist the investigation with detecting and pin-pointing a more precise location for us to dig, and collect samples to send to the lab."

Hey, what better way to speed up the science than by sending a Lab out in the field, right?

"When it comes to a dog, their sense of smell is so much more keen than a human's," said Bolejack. "I never knew that the best tool that I would have would have four paws and a wet nose."

Yeah, Flower Mound arsonists beware, Ziva is on the case!
