Country music legend Merle Haggard has died, his manager confirmed to WSMV. He turned 79 on Wednesday.
Haggard’s manager told WSMV he died at 9:20 a.m. in California.
The singer was battling double pneumonia and had recently canceled upcoming shows due to his poor health. He released the album Django and Jimmie last year, with Willie Nelson.
Haggard is survived by his wife and six children. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994.
