DALLAS -- I'm so excited that Spring is finally here, and it's time for strawberries!
My grandfather had strawberries in his field, and he always told me that when you see the first one, that means everything's changing. Everything turns green and the weather is beautiful!
Strawberries don't just signal the changing of the seasons though. They also happen to be delicious.
Heck, you don't even have to do anything with them -- you can just eat them raw! But if you want my advice? Add a little whipped cream or sugar. Or for extra naughty points, some chocolate syrup.
If you have a little more prep time though, make a strawberry shortcake! Instead of biscuits or shortbread, we like to make ours with layers of white cake, held together by strawberry jam and butter cream. Top it off with some butter frosting and fresh strawberries on top!
Of course, nothing's better than some booze with your fruit... Or is that fruit with your booze? At any rate, throw some of those fresh strawberries in a blender, and mix with your favorite champagne, for a perfect spring-time mimosa.
