FORT WORTH -- Between the NFL and the scientific community, it seems the conversation about concussions and CTE keeps going in circles, so it's fitting that NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. is now giving his two cents.
Well, actually he's giving a whole lot more than that.
The Sprint Cup driver is the latest athlete to announce he'll be donating his brain for research. That's right, Dale Jr. will be donating his brain so researchers can study the effects of CTE.
The race car driver admits he's suffered several concussions throughout his career. In fact, Dale Jr. now seems to be leaning to donating most of his organs when the time comes.
But Dale's buddy Blake Shelton is looking for North Texans to donate something else, their lungs. Texas Motor Speedway is having a casting call for the loudest and rowdiest fans to take part in a national TV spot which will serve as the opening theme for NBC's NASCAR broadcasts this season.
The Speedway will serve as the backdrop as Shelton performs in front of a Texas-size crowd. If you'd like a chance to be one of the people rooting on Shelton, you can register by downloading the Texas Motor Speedway mobile app.
The shoot is Friday, April 8 plus you'll get a t-shirt for your trouble!
