MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An armed man who showed up for Easter church in Tennessee carrying a rifle and a handgun is now undergoing mental evaluation.
Church security saw a man in the church who was armed; a security guard took him into custody without incident before he was able to enter the sanctuary.
Police said 31-year-old Marcus Donald had a loaded 40 caliber Beretta in his pants pocket and a 300 Blackout rifle in his backpack. Donald reportedly told officers, "people in society are a threat to him and that he must be vigilant."
He was arrested for emergency commitment for a mental evaluation. It does not appear he made any threats toward the church or its congregation.
