DALLAS — When Marcus Booker opened fire in a Dallas Wal-Mart, everyone there felt like they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, except for Officer Cassie Dotsy.

“I was just in the parking lot working on an accident report; I’m an accident investigator,” Dotsy said. “I heard the shots, I knew that they were close; as I looked up, I could see that the patrons from the Walmart were running out -- they were startled. I knew then that something was really, really wrong.”

But Officer Dotsy didn’t hesitate before swooping into action.

“I just did naturally what I’m trained to do, I just respond.” said Dotsy, “And I just tracked him through the cars and gave him verbal commands and just as he complied, the two bystanders that were there, they got him, they tackled him for me so that I could get him handcuffed -- because he wasn’t going to go down without a fight.”

And that’s how this cop took down a robbery suspect, by being in the right place at the right time.

She doesn’t think she’s a hero, but the customers at Walmart might disagree.
