Forget juicing, the Chick Fil A nugget cleanse sounds a lot more appealing!
The fast food restaurant is kicking off 2016 by reaching out to customers with Great Ideas for healthier living tips printed on its sacks.
Like this one:
“Kick off the New Year by adding one healthy habit to your routine,” the fast-food chain’s bags says. “Here’s a good one: Eat smaller meals (like an 8-count pack of grilled nuggets) every three to four hours.”
The idea took off after SB Nation’s Rodger Sherman tweeted a pic of the bag.
Chick Fil A nuggets every three or four hours? Count us in!
And the ‘healthy’ part is true!
One serving of nuggets has 140 calories and 3 grams of fat — pretty healthy.
But, as with things that sound too good to be true, there’s a catch. Actually, several.
Most importantly, we’re not talking about the golden fried Chick Fil A nuggets; it’s just the grilled nuggets.
(Hats off to everyone who already knew grilled nuggets were a real thing.)
The same size order of fried Chick Fil A nuggets has 270 calories and 13 grams of fat — pretty big difference.
Can you imagine eating those 3 or 4 times a day?? #StretchPants
Also, the meal calculations do not include the dipping sauces, waffle fries, sweet tea, or an Icedream cone. Add those to one of your meals and you’re well over 900 calories and 26 grams of fat. :(
And lastly, this snack will add up if you partake every 3 to 4 hours on a consistent basis.
One order of grilled nuggets costs around $3.85. Let’s say you order 4 times every day. So $3.85 x 4 = you’re spending $15.40 a day on a healthy grilled nugget snack. That’s $107.80 a week if you went every day and $5,605.60 if you did this year round.
And you’re not adding in the cost of vegetables or other nutrition staples.
In fairness, the Chick Fil A sack is suggesting the grilled nuggets every few hours as a snack, not a life plan.
