MILAN, ITALY – When it comes to fashion, the clothes we wear are essentially our second skin. And Dolce & Gabbana is looking to make sure they represent all types of skin and cultures with their latest line.
The high-end brand has released the Abaya collection, which is an array of dresses and hijabs much like the ones women in the Middle East wear. Images of the brand’s entire collection, which is their first collection aimed at Muslim consumers, were first debuted on Style.com.
In their Instagram post, Dolce and Gabbana says, “the collection is an enchanting visual story about the grace and beauty of the marvelous women of Arabia.”
Not to mention, giving Middle Eastern women a high fashion option to their traditional garb. Hey, maybe Sex and the City was on to something!
Now, while some folks are throwing shade …
It seems the vast majority of people are giving the brand two thumbs up, awarding the collection a collective “Yassssssss!”
Hey, here’s hoping more and more brands follow suit, and are inspired to think outside their culture.
