DALLAS — On Tuesday night, the boo’s will be flowing through American Airlines Center. The Mavs’ BFF Rajon Rondo, now with the Sacramento Kings, makes his return to Dallas for the first time since leaving the team unceremoniously during last year’s playoff run.
Rondo was benched by Rick Carlisle for nearly the entire second half in game 2 of the Mavs’ series against the Rockets. The next day, he left the team for good citing a back injury.
But it appears to be a move that worked out for both sides. Rondo is having an all-star year and the Mavs are exceeding pre-season expectations. Rondo even showed some heart concerning the Mavs saying, “I have nothing but love for that organization.”
But what better way to get over a scorned ex than food therapy? Rookie Justin Anderson and American Airlines Center Executive Chef Mark Mabry have created the Just-In-Time Burger.
Mabry explained the dish to NewsFix, “We did an Old Bay butter Texas Toast — a smoked bacon and deviled egg aioli, a third-pound burger, provolone cheese, vine ripened tomatoes, shredded romaine lettuce. Then he wanted cheese fries. We did a Sriracha cheese sauce and a Sriracha seasoned crispy fry.”
On Tuesday, Anderson was finally able to taste test the meal for himself. He seemed to be very impressed uttering, “Wow,” at least a couple of times. Nothing better than food that leaves you speechless right?
You’ll get your chance to chow down on this masterpiece for a limited time. It’ll be sold during Mavs games all this month. But nothing will taste sweeter to the Mavs than revenge against Rondo Tuesday night.
