IRVING, TX — Ethan Couch has gone from the Affluenza kid to a fugitive of the law! Couch, who was controversially sentenced to 10 years probation after killing four while driving drunk, has been nowhere to be found by law enforcement after an internet video appeared of him at a party with alcohol, apparently violating the terms of his probation.
Then he failed to show up at a meeting with his probation officer. Now he’s nowhere to be found and some are speculating he’s no longer in the county. His mom is “missing,” too.
Now everyone from the Tarrant County Sheriff to Mothers Against Drunk Driving are asking for the public to be on the lookout for the “Afflugitive”.
“Any help just so we can get him apprehended and the fact is that four people died because of this case and nobody’s faced any consequences yet,” said Jason Derscheid, the executive director of the North Texas affiliate of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
This case has been infuriating to a lot of folks, none more so than those over at MADD.
“Obviously, for the families of those who lost their loved ones, they’re never coming back,” said Derscheid. “And so the fact that it’s back in the news again, it reopens a sore wound for them. So, the message is again something that we need to be taken more seriously as a society the fact that this isn’t OK.”
But MADD is hoping some good can come out of this case.
“The one positive that can come from this case is the idea that people are talking about it and having that conversation with their kids about underage drinking and drinking and driving.”
Well, hopefully those lessons can be learned, and someone somewhere knows where in the World Ethan Couch is.
