Lakewood Theater opened in 1938, had 1,100 seats, and costs $125,000 to build. Did you know it was the first air conditioned theater in Dallas? That’s pretty impressive, but even more impressive? Folks were willing to watch a movie during summertime in Dallas without air conditioning.
