DALLAS – It's a smorgasbord of all things art, all in one venue, all in one night. It's Raw Dallas, an event that's all about supporting and highlighting local talent.

"We represent art, fashion, music, photography, film, hair, makeup, accessories, even culinary arts,” Sarah Badran said. Badran is the Creative Director of Raw Dallas. “Anything crazy that's artistic and beautiful and bold and essentially raw. Every other month, we host a showcase."

And this month's showcase, "Uprising," kicks off Sunday at Gas Monkey Live at 5 p.m.

"Our focus really is just to provide for these artists a quality platform,” Badran said.

One vocalist who'll be stepping on that platform is Dallas native Kelton Blackshear.

"It will be my first solo act," Blackshear said. "I got serious about my career when I went high school. I went to Booker T. Washington, so that's when I found out I had a love for performing, for writing, making music."

"My music is really based on love, you know. The experiences that we all go through. I consider my music as a voice for everyone out there who feels the same thing and goes through the same thing but just are keen to expressing that. I'm that expression for that."

How’s that for some raw talent?
