October 20th isn't just any spot on the calendar! Some really important things have happened on this day throughout history.

In 1803 the Senate approved the Louisiana Purchase, and in 1820 Spain sold us a chunk of Florida for 5 million dollars

However, we saw a big split in 1947 when the U.S. House Un-American Activities Committee began hearings to see if communists had infiltrated Hollywood.

More suspicious dealings in politics went down in 1973, when Nixon asked his attorney general to fire the Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox.  Both Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus resigned in protest.

Now we jump 2007  when Bobby Jindal became the first Indian American governor elected in the United States.

Now to Birthdays!

Music Legend Tom Petty turns 65 today. Ole' dude from the Office, John Krasinski, turns 36, and Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, AKA Snoop Dogg, turns 44.

Remember history is made everyday, so get out there and make today historical!
