ELLIS COUNTY — The last time we caught up with Kevin Coffey, the former Maypearl police chief was sitting in the Ellis County Jail, facing several child sex charges.

That was back in July.

He’s still there, but his situation just became even more serious.

Those accusations of sex crimes against teenage girls have led to four grand jury indictments. That’s enough to put him away for 70 years, if he’s convicted on all charges.

But wait, there’s more.

In addition to those charges in Ellis County, Coffey also faces a charge next door, in Johnson County. And again, the charge is Sexual Assault of a Child.

Looks like Kevin Coffey won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. His bond on those four indictments is set at $350,000. And if any of this is proven in court, he’ll be in prison for a long, long time.
