GARLAND -- Food and family go hand in hand, and III Fellas BBQ in Garland is the perfect mix of both.

Owner Darryl McDowell had been catering for years.

"I was frying fish, ya know, making other dishes, but BBQ stood out,” McDowell said.

He decided it was time for a change, so McDowell called on the folks he knew best.

"It was started with me and my sons, my two sons, Devon and Deandre,” McDowell said.

And in a state where good BBQ comes a dime a dozen, McDowell makes sure his meats are memorable. So, what's McDowell's secret? His specialty rub.

"Everybody don't do dry rub anymore,” McDowell said. β€œThey brown their meat."

And you better believe it's smoked to perfection. Let's not forget the homemade sides. Another specialty? The stuffed jalapenos filled with three cheeses and brisket ... and wrapped in bacon.

Chew on This, III Fellas BBQ offers a reaaaaally big (and we mean big) baked potato, topped with butter, cheese, sour cream and any meat you want.

"Chicken, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, turkey,” McDowell said.

Yeah, you're guaranteed to eat on this baby for days.

One of the best things about III Fellas is their specials. From the$ 5.99 sandwich combo for lunch to the fish Fridays with free beer and wine.

Hey, if you're looking for a unique BBQ experience, it's safe to say three fellas will rub you the right way!
