FAIR PARK -- Hey, have you gotten your fried fair food fix yet? Whoa, that was a mouthful, and that’s ironically what you’ll get if you head out to the State Fair on Thursdays.

That’s right, for the first time ever, the State Fair is offering Thrifty Thursdays. What’s that, you ask? Well, for starters, you can get into the park at a discount. Just bring a 20-ounce Coke product and get in for $6.

What’s more, admission is free for folks 60 and older.

But, here’s the best part: 62-food vendors are slashing prices and serving up deep fried discounts. You heard right, we’re talking half-price food at some stands. It’s like a variable treasure trove of State Fair savings.

On the markdown menu: A six-inch funnel cake  is half-price for just six coupons. A slice of cheese pizza dropped from six to four coupons.

Last year’s Big Tex winner for “Best Tasting,” fried gulf shrimp boil, is a steal at just six coupons. It's regularly priced at 17.

Of course, what’s a tasting trip to the fair without Fletcher’s? A turkey dog will cost you six coupons as opposed to 10. Talk about fair savings.

You can take advantage of the sale every Thursday through October 18.

Remember, the State Fair also offers other daily discounts, like Dr. Pepper Tuesdays -- bring an empty can and get in for $5,  $4 Wednesdays -- bring four canned foods for a special priced admission, and half-price admission every night after 5p.m. with an empty can of DP.

Now, who’s ready for some fun?
